Welcome

A Note from the Principal

Hello to all of our Spencer Technology Families!

Welcome back to Spencer Technology Academy for the 2019-2020 school year! We are excited to be working in partnership with all of the Spencer families this year. On behalf of the entire Spencer Technology Academy staff, I extend a warm welcome to all of our students and their families. I am proud to welcome many new teachers and staff members, including myself and we are excited to begin the school year with you.

My name is Frances Thibodeaux-Fox and I have been in education for over 20 years. I have been an elementary teacher, servicing mostly all grades sometime within my career. I have spent the last five years as an administrator, accepting my last assignment as principal of Spencer Technology Academy. I am excited to have been a member of the hiring team to bring on several new teachers and paraprofessionals.

Spencer faculty and staff has been working hard these past several weeks to build systems and structures that will help students to organize and manage themselves academically and behaviorally. We believe in setting high standards and will expect and demand more of you. We expect our students to study and maintain good grades and to help in the social environment that will elicit a quality education.

It is important that school and parents work together as partners. We need you to set high expectations for your children and reinforce school-wide expectations. Be mindful that in order for changes to happen in our community tomorrow, our children must prepare today. It is our belief that establishing clear communication between home and school will not only support the educational interest of each student, but it will help develop a closer community. It will also help to establish an environment conducive to educating the great minds of our children.

Spencer faculty and staff are excited to start the school year with you and we welcome any questions and concerns you may have about your child’s future here at Spencer Technology Academy. The faculty and staff is ready to serve our community.

Educationally yours,
Frances Thibodeaux-Fox

A Note From the Assistant Principal

Greetings Parents, Families, Staff and Students of Spencer Academy:

My name is Bridget Harris and I’m extremely happy to join the Spencer family as the new Assistant Principal. I’m very passionate about education and I look forward to partnering with you to provide our students with a rigorous, engaging, and high-quality experience. As a parent, I recognize the importance of a strong home-school connection. Parents are every child’s first teacher and I believe that by working together, we can make sure your child’s social, emotional, and academic needs are met each day.

Before joining Spencer, I served in a variety of teaching and educational leadership roles over the past 17 years. Some of the roles I have held include classroom teacher, PD Specialist, and K-8 assistant principal. My academic background includes a Master of Arts in Education, a Master of Arts in Administration and Supervision, a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science.

I believe that great schools are the results of great teachers, so my primary objective will be to ensure that every student is receiving high-quality instruction from every teacher at Spencer. In order to do this, I will be providing teachers with feedback on their instruction, access to professional development, and reaching out to parents for support with academic and behavioral concerns to ensure our students are prepared for college and 21st century careers.

I will be working closely with our Principal, Mrs. Fox, to guarantee that all of our students are intellectually challenged and have access to the social and emotional support that is critical to students during their elementary years. Please commit to being active participants in this process with us. We cannot do it without you.

Thank you for the opportunity to serve the students, families and staff of Spencer!! I look forward to working with you. Please do not hesitate to reach out to me if you have any questions, concerns, or ideas you would like to share.

Educationally Yours,
Bridget Harris
